Reflecting LOWA’s commitment to innovation, these new LOWA military boots feature new high performance technologies that complement some of the original characteristics. The new technologies featured on the latest LOWA boots include anti-slip soles, Ankle Shield, or AS® Technology, and the topic of this particular blog, Rayflect® technology. This clever heat reflective technology is featured on the LOWA  Boots mentioned above.

How Does LOWA’s Rayflect® Technology Work?

The new LOWA boots are designed to provide support, comfort and protection in the most challenging of conditions and when undergoing rigorous exercise. There are many features on the boot which ensure these standards are met, however the hydrophobic, tear-resistant full grain leather uppers with Rayflect® technology are central to this.

The upper leather of the boot is applied with sunlight reflecting pigments. By reflecting the heat, this treatment prevents the leather from absorbing heat, therefore ensuring the boots heat up more slowly. This is particularly important when taking part in intense exercise or tactical missions outside especially in summer. The Rayflect® technology can only be applied to full grain leather, and is used on the new LOWA black boots.

This enhances comfort by ensuring feet remain cooler. When worn with a high performance pair of breathable socks, such as the Bridgedale CoolFusion™ TrailBlaze Socks with Coolmax® Liners, the comfort and cooling properties are further enhanced.

The uppers of the new LOWA combat boots also feature a fully waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex® professional membrane, to keep water out whilst allowing perspiration and moisture to escape. This works alongside the Rayflect® technology to keep feet cool.

What Other Features Does The Combat Boot MK2 GTX Benefit From?

The heat reflection technology is a hugely important feature of the new LOWA combat boots, however there are plenty more key properties that go into making these LOWA boots the high performance, durable footwear that they are. These properties include the following:

Ankle Shield (AS®) Technology: this is a 3mm circle of shock absorbing Poron® material that sits underneath the boots’ uppers

Vibram® Vanguard Sole: rubber outsole with the best anti-slip performance according to ISO 20347 standard, with heat and cold insulation, as well as resistance to fuel, oil and hot contact

Dual Density PU Midsole With Arch Support: technical design of midsole with in-built arch support and fast rope insert on medial side

Gore-Tex® Professional Membrane: Makes these LOWA boots 100% waterproof whilst allowing moisture to escape so that feet can breathe

Certified For Use With Specific Orthotics: Can be used with selected Bauerfeind® orthotics to enhance comfort and support

New 2-Zone Lacing System: closed hooks and locking loops with integrated lace holster on the tongue

Efficient Back Loop: putting these LOWA boots on is easier and more efficient, with wide versions also available

Robust One-Piece Upper Construction: no stitching on the bottom part, with adapted toe and heel rubber protection
