8 Military Podcasts You Need To Listen To In 2022

Michael has hosted a huge range of guests including Military Cross winners, athletes, veterans, and partners of those who have served in the military. In line with its title, this military podcast focuses on breaking down stigmas and perceptions surrounding mental wellbeing, tackling issues such as post traumatic stress. It’s not surprising to hear that this is one of the top military podcasts to have won awards in the past.

The InDependent Spouse Podcast

Another one of our favourite military podcasts for 2022 has to be The InDependent Spouse Podcast.  As you’ve probably guessed from the name, this is one of the many incredible military podcasts aimed at an audience of military spouses, partners and other-halves. The host Jess Sands, invites inspiring members of the military community to discuss the ‘other side’ of military life i.e the experiences of the military community on the ‘home-front’. This is one of the most inspiring military podcasts that we’ve listened to in 2022, and one that introduces a new perspective in every episode.

The Weekly Defence Podcast

We mentioned The Weekly Defence Podcast in our top military podcasts for 2021, and it’s popularity has continued into 2022. This is a fascinating podcast for anyone who has an interest in military technology, procurement and the defence sector. Run by a team of expert international journalists, the podcast dives deep into defence issues, analysing trends and looking at forecasts. Each episode also includes a weekly round up of current events, as the hosts keep listeners up to date on the latest defence updates as they are happening. 

Global Education Matters

This is another one of the fascinating military podcasts that focuses on aspects of military life on the ‘home-front’. The podcast is aimed at helping military families by exploring the education options that are available for UK military families in a number of different global locations. Aiming to provide a broad view of what it's like to live in different locations as a military family, the podcast looks in-depth at local education systems, schools and the range of opportunities for families to experience in local areas.

Military Veterans Podcast

Of all the military podcasts that we’ve come across so far in 2022, the Military Veterans Podcast is one of the most personal and informative. Hosted by Gavin Watson who is a British Army Veteran of 16 years, this military podcast invites other veterans to talk about their experiences of military life and the transition back to civilian life. It is aimed at providing non-military personnel with an insight into what that transition is like, as well as a clearer idea of the resilience upheld by military veterans. 

The Centre For Army Leadership Podcast

This is another one of the military podcasts that we mentioned in our 2021 recommendations, and couldn’t leave absent from our 2022 list. The Centre For Army Leadership Podcast continues to be one of the most popular military podcasts out there, and focuses on what is required from military leadership to meet present and future challenges. This military podcast invites guests from a diverse range of backgrounds, including military leaders themselves, as well as leaders from the world of sport, academia and business.

NAAFI Break

Another one of the best military podcasts that you need to listen to in 2022 is NAAFI Break. Focussing on the transition from military to civilian life, NAAFI Break hosts military veterans who have left the military and forged second careers. Discussions look at the value of military training and development, how this shapes lives and what it means for the transition back into civilian life. This is an honest podcast that includes personal stories, showcasing how the military experience differs for every individual. 

Warrior Nation

Last but certainly not least on our list of the best military podcasts for 2022 is Warrior Nation. This is one of the military podcasts with the broadest subject matter, looking at the relationship between defence, the armed forces, and civil society in modern Britain. The podcast takes an in-depth look at different military affairs and how these interact with civil life, covering a wide range of topics and hearing from a range of knowledgeable experts along the way.
